Dope Cat

Dope Cat (aka Lean Cat) was originally intended to be a private avatar for my own personal use on VRChat back in 2021 on Desktop Mode.

The character was meant to be a doomer/stoner cat that represented my personality at the time, with a twist of "swag" and irony.

Back in 2021/2022, during COVID, I used to spend a lot of nights hanging out in The Pug with my friend Jay/Jayskie. Every now and then, people would come up to me and ask if they could copy the avatar.

Later on, people started jokingly creating "gangs/organizations" around the avatar and unironically using it themselves. Eventually, it became popular and started spreading all across VRChat.

People then started making TikToks, YouTube videos, Reddit posts, and other content featuring the avatar, which made it grow even more and eventually become what it is today.

At this point, even a quick Google search for "Dope Cat VRChat" brings it up.

The original cat base is a free-to-use model made by Ezekiel.
